Hurricanes skipper Nicola Carey is one the verge of a significant career milestone, although an even bigger occasion away from cricket could take precedence tomorrow night.
The experienced all-rounder is in line to play her 150th WBBL match against the Melbourne Renegades, with Wednesday also the due date for the arrival of her first child with partner Ellyse Villani.
The 33-year-old made 59 appearances for Sydney Thunder before joining the Hurricanes ahead of WBBL|05, and will chalk up her 91st game in purple at Ninja Stadium should family commitments allow.
Carey will be hoping to celebrate the milestone with her first victory as captain, with the defending champions looking to bounce back from consecutive defeats to the Melbourne Stars and Sydney Sixers to open WBBL|12.
Her contribution to the club extends well beyond appearances, with the left-handed batter and right-arm seamer establishing herself as one of the most accomplished all-rounders in Hurricanes history.
She is the club's all-time leading wicket-taker with 88 scalps, while her 1395 runs are second only to Lizelle Lee on Hobart's all-time batting list.
Across her WBBL career, Carey has amassed 1880 runs, including six half-centuries, and claimed 150 wickets, with best bowling figures of 4-12.
The Hurricanes have named an unchanged 13-player squad for the clash with the Renegades.
Meanwhile, young spinner Amy Smith has been ruled out for the remainder of WBBL|12 with a bone stress injury), with Isa Malgioglio to remain with the squad as her replacement.
