Community

At the Hurricanes we pride ourselves on being a big part of the local community.

Through a range of programs and initiatives here in the Tasmanian community, we aim to be not just a cricket team, but an organisation which is fundamentally identified as part of Tasmanian culture.

Hurricanes Indigenous XI

The Hurricanes are proud to be working with the Sydney Thunder on the ‘Indigenous XI T20 Cup’. The competition was established in 2017 and offers the opportunities for for Indigenous cricketers in Tasmania to represent the Hurricanes.

Captain's Challenge

The Captain's Challenge has been developed to assist Kindergarten to Year 2 students around Tasmania achieving 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous intensity activity on most days of the week as outlined in the Australian Physical Activity Guidelines.

The Captain’s Challenge achieves this by spending 10 minutes per day developing fundamental motor skills that will assist them in remaining physically active later in life.

Hurricanes Foundation

The Hurricanes Foundation has been established to place our cricket community – the kids, the clubs and the fans – first.

We are doing this by supporting:

  • Community programs
  • Great fundraising initiatives
  • Community facility improvements and,
  • Cricket participation across our state of Tasmania

We are transforming the Hurricanes brand into a platform for social change that is more than just about winning games.
