Hobart Hurricanes and Tasmanian Tigers batter Rachel Trenaman has earned another representative opportunity after being selected in the Governor-General’s XI to face New Zealand next week.
Trenaman has been named in the 13-player squad for the T20 clash against the White Ferns at North Sydney Oval on Thursday, October 15.
The 25-year-old is part of an exciting squad featuring a blend of established domestic performers and emerging Australian talent, with Nicole Faltum to captain the side and Charli Knott named vice-captain.
The match provides Trenaman - who was most recently with the Australia A squad in India - with another opportunity to test herself against international opposition ahead of the upcoming WBBL|12 campaign with the Hurricanes.
Cricket Australia Head of Performance (Women’s Cricket) and National Selector Shawn Flegler said the fixture was an important opportunity for players pushing their case at the next level.
“For these players, matches against an international side are an invaluable chance to challenge themselves at a higher level and gain experience in an environment that replicates the demands of international cricket,” Flegler said.
“There’s a really exciting mix of youth and experience in the squad, with players who have performed strongly at domestic level getting the opportunity to test themselves against one of the world’s leading teams.”
The Governor-General’s XI, which also features Lieutenant Meera Hyderabad, a wicketkeeper/batter and Artillery Officer in the Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery, will face New Zealand under lights at North Sydney Oval on October 15.
