Hurricanes lock in Tasmanian quartet

The Hobart Hurricanes have continued to lock away their Tasmanian core, with Tim Ward, Will Prestwidge, Marcus Bean and Iain Carlisle all re-signing ahead of BBL|16.

Prestwidge has committed to the Hurricanes for a further two seasons, while Ward, Bean and Carlisle have each signed one-year extensions.

Ward returns after a breakthrough Big Bash campaign last summer, with the left-hander making the most of his opportunity at the top of the order and announcing himself with a brilliant 90 from just 49 balls against the Sydney Thunder.

The innings showcased another dimension to Ward's game, with the established Tasmanian red-ball opener demonstrating his ability to take on an attack in the shortest format.

Prestwidge also earned his first opportunities in purple during BBL|15, featuring three times after joining the Hurricanes from the Brisbane Heat.

The 24-year-old all-rounder will now have the opportunity to build on that introduction after signing through to the end of BBL|17.

Bean and Carlisle have both recommitted for BBL|16, ensuring the Hurricanes retain four players who are also part of the Tasmanian Tigers program.
