The Cricket Australia National Selection Panel (NSP) has announced the Australian Women's squads to face India next month including a Governor-General’s XI to take on India ahead of the series.
Hobart Hurricanes All-rounder Nicola Carey is in line to play her first international match since 2022, after being selected in the ODI and T20I Australian squads. With two of the ODI matches to played in Tasmania at Ninja Stadium on 27 Feb and 1 March.
After declining a national contract in 2023, Carey has been one of the standout performers in domestic cricket both at home and abroad. She helped steer Tasmania to a maiden 50-over title in 2023-24 in a Player of the Year performance and was named Player of the Match in The Hundred Final last.
Hurricanes contracted players Hayley Silver-Holmes and Rachel Trenaman were both selected in the Governor-General's XI, who will face India on 13 February. Their great form throughout WBBL|11 and this year's WNCL has provided them with this opportunity.
We look forward to seeing Nic, Hayley and Rachel in action for Australia and the Governor-General's XI over the coming weeks!
