Following a mid-week loss to the Melbourne Stars, the Hobart Hurricanes return home to Ninja Stadium for their ‘Pride Round’ matchup against the Perth Scorchers tomorrow night.
Bowling first against the Stars after Villani won another toss, Nicola Carey (2-29) was the pick of the bowlers as the Melbourne side posted 6-151 from their 20 overs.
Early wickets to Lizelle Lee in her 100th WBBL game and fellow opener Danni Wyatt-Hodge left the Hurricanes behind the eight-ball from the start. Despite a late fightback from Elyse Villani (38 off 21), the Hurricanes fell 37 runs short.
Tomorrow's clash with the Scorchers comes at a crucial point in the season for the Hurricanes. With only three games left in WBBL|11, every win is vital.
A Melbourne Stars victory over the Melbourne Renegades earlier in the day could see the Hurricanes start tomorrow night’s match in second place, setting up a finals-defining rematch against the Stars on Monday night at home.
The Hurricanes squad remains unchanged from the last match against the Stars, with the same 13 players included.
Amy Smith is unavailable for selection following a hamstring injury sustained during the WNCL season. Her fitness will be re-evaluated later in WBBL|11.
Tomorrow’s match begins at 7:10 pm AEDT at Ninja Stadium, Hobart.
The Hobart Hurricanes WBBL|11 squad for the match against the Scorchers is as follows:
