With BBL|15 only just over a month away, the Hobart Hurricanes are one step closer to finalising their list with the re-signing of pace bowler Marcus Bean.
Bean, who made his debut for the Hurricanes last summer, is delighted to be continuing his career in purple.
“I’m super excited to be back around the Hurricanes group for another season.
“I learned heaps being around the squad, and I am aiming to make an impact again as we hopefully go back-to-back,” stated Bean.
After being plucked from the Queensland Premier League before BBL|14, Marcus Bean was a name relatively unknown outside local cricket in Brisbane.
Hurricanes Assistant Coach James Hopes saw what Bean was doing in grade cricket and recommended him as a potential signing for the Hurricanes.
He repaid the faith of the Hurricanes coaching staff after making his debut in front of his Brisbane home crowd, taking the wicket of Nathan McSweeney in his first over of professional cricket.
In both his BBL|14 games last season, he took a wicket, surprising batters with steep bounce, with his extra height wreaking havoc on the opposition.
Bean was also signed to the Tasmanian Tigers for two seasons at the start of the 2025–26 season. While yet to play a game, he has been impressing in the nets.
In Premier Cricket this season, Bean has taken five wickets in three games for Lindisfarne in the CTPL, and in two games in Queensland Premier Cricket, taking 5-33 and 1-49 for Northern Suburbs.
Cricket Tasmania’s High Performance General Manager, Salliann Beams, is looking forward to having Bean on the Hurricanes list for another season.
"Beany has been impressing us, ever since he joined the Hurricanes at the start of BBL|14.
"He has height, decent pace and bounce, and while still very early on is his career he is only going to continue to develop.
"Now that he is around both of our Hurricanes and Tigers programs, we are confident he will become an asset to our talented bowling group,” said Beams.
Marcus Bean joins Rehan Ahmed (O/S), Iain Carlisle, Nikhil Chaudhary, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Rishad Hossain (O/S), Chris Jordan (O/S), Ben McDermott, Riley Meredith, Mitch Owen, Billy Stanlake, Matt Wade, Jake Weatherald, Beau Webster, and Mac Wright under contract ahead of BBL|15, with two further signings to be announced soon.
Hurricanes memberships are on sale now, with the Hobart Hurricanes in action in the WBBL currently, having won their first two games and their first home game on Tuesday night at Ninja Stadium.
The Hurricanes’ BBL|15 season will get underway in just over a month, with a huge Grand Final rematch against the Sydney Thunder taking place on Tuesday, 16 December.
