The reigning Spring Challenge champions, the Hobart Hurricanes, can now share their squad for the 2025 tournament, which starts next Tuesday in Sydney.
Having won the inaugural Spring Challenge last season, this year’s competition will be held exclusively in Sydney, with matches at North Sydney Oval, Cricket Central, Blacktown Olympic Park, and Drummoyne Oval.
Last season, Lizelle Lee scored the most runs in the tournament with 252, while the Hurricanes’ best performer with the ball was Molly Strano, who took eight wickets.
This year’s 13-player squad features a strong blend of top-level domestic talent alongside up-and-coming players from the Tasmanian cricket system.
The team will be captained by Hurricanes WBBL|11 skipper Elyse Villani and coached by Jude Coleman (Head Coach), Graeme Beghin (Batting), and Clive Rose (Bowling).
Also selected in the squad is Tigers rookie and Greater Northern Raiders product Ava Curtis, as well as Cricket Tasmania pathways member Mia Barwick, who was part of last year's squad but did not make her debut.
Another player who did not feature in last year’s Spring Challenge is Rachel Trenaman, recently signed to the Hobart Hurricanes WBBL|11 squad.
Caity Mair, a wicketkeeper-batter who played for Queensland Fire during the 2022–23 WNCL season, is also named in the Hurricanes’ Spring Challenge squad.
