With the Spring Challenge less than two weeks away from starting, the Hobart Hurricanes can confirm that speedster Callie Wilson has been signed for two seasons, extending her contract through to the end of WBBL|12.
Wilson, who made her debut for the Hurricanes in WBBL|10, is a player who is viewed to have significant potential and is regularly clocked bowling at speeds over 115 km/h.
She is excited to be continuing her T20 career in Tasmania with the Hurricanes.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be back in purple again this season!
“I am very excited to be around our amazing group and soak up all the experience they have to offer,” Wilson said.
Playing in six matches for the Hurricanes last summer, after making her debut against the Heat in Sydney, Wilson will be looking to build on the T20 form that saw her play a role for the 'Cane Train.
The 21-year-old also made her debut in the WNCL last season, playing in three matches for the Tasmanian Tigers after the WBBL break.
She’s known for her raw pace, often terrorising batters with her speed and steep bounce.
Her 2025-26 season has only just got underway, following an injury during the pre-season, keeping her out of the nets for much of winter.
Cricket Tasmania’s High Performance General Manager, Salliann Beams, is excited by Wilson’s potential.
“We are excited for Callie as she has had a tricky start to her playing career due to a number of injuries, she is someone we view as having significant upside and will be a key player for us in the future.
“She possesses raw pace, which is something we don't have a lot of on our WBBL|11 list, so she can provide an X-factor with the ball in hand.
“At only 21 there is still plenty of time for her to develop, but to have her on our list for two years is exciting for Hurricanes fans, and I look forward to seeing what Callie will do,”
Callie Wilson joins Nicola Carey, Heather Graham, Ruth Johnston, Lizelle Lee, Nat Sciver-Brunt (O/S), Hayley Silver-Holmes, Amy Smith, Lauren Smith, Linsey Smith (O/S), Molly Strano, Rachel Trenaman, Elyse Villani, and Danni Wyatt-Hodge (O/S) as Hurricanes players under contract for WBBL|11, with one final player to be announced following the Spring Challenge.
