England Captain to join Hurricanes WBBL|11 Squad!

Ahead of the WBBL|11 draft, the Hobart Hurricanes can confirm their WBBL pre-signing, England Captain and world class all-rounder, Nat Sciver-Brunt.

Sciver-Brunt, who played for the Perth Scorchers in nine matches in WBBL|10, recently dominated the Women’s Premier League in India and led all run-scorers in the tournament with 523 runs from 10 games and fourth in the overall wicket-taking tally with 12 wickets.

She is looking forward to playing for the ‘Cane Train in WBBL|11.

“I am super excited to be joining the Hobart Hurricanes.

“I have heard great things about what the team has been trying to build over the last couple of seasons, and they have always been a tough matchup.

“I look forward to joining the group at the start of WBBL|11 and helping bring the Hurricanes their first piece of WBBL silverware,” said Sciver-Brunt.

Sciver-Brunt, who was recently announced as the captain of the England Women’s cricket team, is no stranger to playing in the WBBL, having played for the Perth Scorchers and Melbourne Stars throughout her career.

Her prolific international career spans 135 T20 International matches, having scored 2881 runs at an average of 28.81, only trailing WBBL|10 Hurricanes star Danni Wyatt-Hodge in the overall run scoring for England.

Her bowling has been equally as impressive, with her crafty medium-pace bowling taking 90 wickets across her international career.

Sciver-Brunt will add even more talent to a stacked Hurricanes batting group which will feature fellow all-rounder Heather Graham, along with now local player Lizelle Lee, Captain Elyse Villani, a potential overseas draftee and local re-signing or two to be added to their XI as well.

Across her 75 WBBL matches, Sciver-Brunt has scored 1413 runs and taken 59 wickets, and will be looking to add to her already impressive T20 resume.

Cricket Tasmania’s High Performance General Manager, Salliann Beams, discussed her excitement to have a player of Sciver-Brunt’s calibre on the Hurricanes list.

"I am delighted to have the captain of the England cricket team, and arguably the best overseas talent available, on our list for WBBL|11.

"Nat is one of the most damaging T20 batters in the game and has a wealth of experience that will shore up our list with her top-order batting and challenging medium-pace bowling.

“Her signing with the Hurricanes is truly exciting for our fans, and I can’t wait to see what she will do in purple this summer,” stated Beams.

Sciver-Brunt joins Heather Graham, Ruth Johnston, Lizelle Lee, Hayley Silver-Holmes, Lauren Smith, Molly Strano and Elyse Villani as Hurricanes players under contract for WBBL|11, with future players to be announced over the coming months.

Details on Hobart Hurricanes fixtures, memberships, and tickets will be communicated to fans in the coming weeks.
