'Canes power home to victory over Renegades.

It was a must win match for the Hobart Hurricanes that saw them looking to get their second straight win against the Melbourne Renegades.

After losing the toss, the Hurricanes were sent in to bat first – kicking off the innings with Lizelle Lee and Elyse Villani at the crease.

It was an epic start for the ‘Canes with both Lee and Villani capitalising off the errors of the Renegades, and finding the gaps with ease.

The momentum continued until the 5th over where Villani was caught on 22 (14), and just two balls later Bryony Smith departed on a duck.

But there was nowhere but up as Lee took command of the innings and made it her own, smashing an immaculate century including 12 fours and 4 sixes.

Heather Graham was also very impressive with the bat as she finished up on 55* with a strike rate of 196.43.

The Hurricanes set a cracking total of 3-212, giving the Renegades a mammoth total to chase.

As the second innings commenced, the magic continued for the girls in purple as they consistently sent the wickets tumbling.

Shabnim Ismail came out firing as she collected both opening batsman, assisted by Nicola Carey getting the duck of Harmanpreet Kaur.

But the rest of the evening was all spin as Maisy Gibson and Amy Smith had an absolute party with the ball.

Smith wrapped up her innings on 3-17 (4.0) and Maisy Gibson with a stunning 4-25, clinical bowling from the pair that resulted in the Renegades being bowled out for 119 runs.

Player of the match was awarded to Lizelle Lee for her 101*.
