Speedster Summers back with Hurricanes

21 November 2018

The Hobart Hurricanes proudly announce the addition of speedster Aaron Summers to its squad for the KFC BBL|08 Season.

Summers - who regularly clocks 150km/h with his bowling, appeared in one match for the Hurricanes during BBL|07 and became a Cricket Tasmania rookie contracted player earlier this year.

The 22-year-old is keen to make more of an impact for #TasmaniasTeam this summer before jetting off to the 2019 Pakistan Super League, after he was drafted as a Silver Category player by the Karachi Kings on Tuesday.

"It was awesome to have a taste of the Big Bash last year and I'm confident we can go one further this year," said Summers.

"On a personal level, I'm hoping to play more of a role this season but I'm very excited and confident in the squad we have."

Summers wants to see all of Tasmania out in support of the Hurricanes this summer.

"I'm hopeful of seeing all our fans and members in Hobart and Launceston getting behind us this year, their noise last year was incredible."

"I'm thrilled to have signed with such a well-run club and talented group, I feel we are building towards big things in the future."

Coach Adam Griffith knows that Summers is ready to build on his first year in purple.

"Aaron will look to build on BBL|07," he said.

"He bowled well in Darwin (in the NT Strike League) during their drier months and has gained some valuable match experience in the JLT Cup this year."

"He adds an extra dimension to our attack with his pace and ability to execute his change of pace too."

The Hurricanes begin BBL|08 with a trip to the Gold Coast to face the Brisbane Heat on Saturday 22 December before a Christmas Eve afternoon home opener vs. the Melbourne Stars, with carols being held on Blundstone Arena after the match.
