Mandhana named Wisden's Leading Cricketer

11 April 2019

Explosive Hobart Hurricanes WBBL opening bat, Smriti Mandhana, continues to take home high honours after being named the Wisden Almanack's Leading Women's Cricketer in the World overnight on Thursday.

The award was established by Wisden back in 2004, with former Hurricanes players, Ricky Ponting and Kumar Sangakkara being named the male equivalent winner during their careers.

This year's male award was taken home by Mandhana's compatriot, Virat Kohli, who has now won the award three years running.

During her first WBBL season with the Hurricanes in December and January, Mandhana was named as the ICC's Women's Player of the Year.

Congratulations, Smriti!
