Short Named BBL|07 Player of the Tournament

06 February 2018

Hobart Hurricanes opener D'Arcy Short has been honoured for his record-breaking season, named Player of the Tournament for BBL|07.

Short hammered a record 572 runs for the Hurricanes across the regular season and final, a tally that included a tournament record score of 122 and led to his maiden international call-up for Australia's Gillette T20 Tri-Series campaign.

Short won the award by polling 26 votes on the 3-2-1 system, eight clear of Sydney Thunder skipper Shane Watson and 10 in front of third-placed Alex Carey.

Perth Scorchers allrounder Ashton Agar has also been honoured, named the BBL|07 Young Gun as the leading player aged under 25.

The 24-year-old polled 15 votes to finish fourth on the overall tally, one ahead of Scorchers teammate Ashton Turner and Strikers spinner Rashid Khan, who sit in the same age bracket.
