BBL|10 Match Preview: Stars v Hurricanes

03 January 2021

The Hobart Hurricanes will be looking to go for back-to-back wins against the might of the Melbourne Stars when they face them again at Blundstone Arena tomorrow.

Just two-days after their 21-run win over Team Green, the two teams will front up against each other in Hobart again.

The Hurricanes broke the Stars three-game winning streak against them with last night’s win and have now won five of their last six KFC BBL matches at Blundstone Arena, including their last four on the bounce.  The last and only time the ‘Canes won more at their home venue was an eight-match span from January 2018 to February 2019.

Hurricanes opener, D’Arcy Short, has scored 810 KFC BBL runs at Blundstone Arena - the most by any player at the venue – and has averaged 40.5 across his 21 BBL knocks at the Hobart ground.

Despite being dismissed for 12 runs off seven balls, Short looked in good touch in the first over of yesterday and is primed for another big outing soon.

The Hurricanes have named an unchanged 17-player squad to face the Stars tomorrow:

Scott Boland
Johan Botha
Tim David
Nathan Ellis
Peter Handscomb
Colin Ingram
Sandeep Lamichhane
Dawid Malan
Ben McDermott
Riley Meredith
David Moody
Mitchell Owen
Wil Parker
D'Arcy Short
Charlie Wakim
Nick Winter
Macalister Wright

If selected in the final XI, Mitch Owen, Charlie Wakim and Nick Winter will make their Hurricanes debuts.

An extremely limited number of tickers are still available for tomorrow’s match, however they must be purchased before getting to the ground.  For more information and to purchase, head to:

The first ball will be at 4.05pm.
