Whilst a win would all-but-cement the Hurricanes’ fourth-consecutive BBL finals appearance, a loss or a no-result – given Melbourne is expecting a large amount of rain tomorrow – would also not rule them out completely.
The Hurricanes are coming off a seven-run win against the Sydney Sixers; the only team the ‘Canes have beaten twice this season - a trend they will be looking to keep up against the Renegades.
Whilst the Renegades are currently sitting in eighth position on the KFC BBL|10 ladder and out of contention for the finals, they have a history of being keen to upset teams on track for finals when they least expect it.
The last time the two teams met was in Hobart in December - the Hurricanes fourth match of the KFC BBL|10 season – with the ‘Canes came away six-wicket winners. Two young batsmen – one from each side – impressed in that match, with Ben McDermott notching an unbeaten 89 off 55 balls, whilst the ‘Gades Sam Harper was also unbeaten on 66.
The Hurricanes have named an unchanged 17-player squad to face the Renegades:
The first ball will be bowled at 3.50pm AEST, with the game to be broadcast on Channel 7, Foxtel and SEN. It will be also be available to livestream via Kayo Sports.
