Match preview: Renegades v Hurricanes

28 December 2021

The Hobart Hurricanes will be looking to continue their winning streak on the road when they take on the Melbourne Renegades at Marvel Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Despite the fact that the ‘Canes will be playing in the ‘Gades home turf, they will be out for revenge, after an unexpected loss the last time the two teams both met turfed the Hurricanes out of the BBL|10 finals.

On that occasion it was Renegade-turned-Star, Beau Webster, who did the damage with the bat, top-scoring for the match with 54 runs off 35 deliveries.  However, the Hurricanes will also need to be wary of youngster Mackenzie Harvey, who in that game joined in with Webster on a 63-run partnership, contributing 40 runs of his own.

The Hurricanes have taken a 14-player squad to Melbourne for tomorrow's match at Marvel Stadium:

Harry Brook
Tim David
Nathan Ellis
Peter Handscomb
Caleb Jewell
Josh Kann
Sandeep Lamichhane
Ben McDermott
Riley Meredith
Wil Parker
Tom Rogers
D'Arcy Short
Jordan Thompson
Matthew Wade (c)

Scott Boland (international commitments) and Joel Paris (injury) remain unavailable for selection.

The first ball will be sent down at 7.15pm AEDT, with the match broadcast on 7 Cricket, Fox Cricket and SEN 1116, and available to be livestreamed via Kayo Sports.
