The Hobart Hurricanes will be looking for back-to-back wins against the Adelaide Strikers, when they take on the boys in blue for the second time in three days at University of Tasmania Stadium in Launceston tomorrow night.
The Hurricanes recorded an 11-run win over their initial meeting with the Strikers in Hobart, but despite being in control of the game halfway through the second innings, it played out much tighter than expected, thanks to some superb tail-end batting from the Strikers’ Daniel Worrall and Danny Briggs.
Sunday’s win was the first time the Hurricanes have scored back-to-back victories against the Strikers, so three in a row for the Hurricanes would be sweet. However, if history is anything to go by, they will have their back up against it in Launceston.
The Hurricanes have only won one of their five BBL matches previously played in Launceston, however in better news for the home team, 50% of Riley Meredith’s deliveries in Launceston has been registered as dot balls; a stat he will be keen to emulate on Tuesday night.
The Hurricanes 17-player squad available for selection to face the Strikers is as follows:
If selected in the final XI, Wil Parker, Charlie Wakim and Nick Winter will make their Hurricanes debuts.
Ben McDermott returns to the squad from Sydney, where he represented Australia A in a three-day tour match against India. McDermott starred with an unbeaten century on the final day of the match.
There are still a limited number of tickets available for tomorrow’s clash, however they must be purchased before departing for the ground. For more information and to purchase, head to: www.hobarthurricanes.com.au/tickets.
