Match Preview: Hurricanes v Stars

23 December 2021

Christmas Eve cricket returns to Blundstone Arena tomorrow afternoon, when the Hobart Hurricanes host the Melbourne Stars in what is shaping up to be a KFC BBL|11 blockbuster.

After the ‘traditional’ fixture took a break last year due to COVID-19-related reasons, it will be back bigger than ever in 2021.

Whilst there’s expected to be plenty of support for the home side, it will also be a chance for Tasmanian cricket fans to catch West Indian superstar, Andre Russell, in action, in his penultimate match for the Stars franchise for KFC BBL|11.

The Hurricanes have named an unchanged 16-player to take on the Stars in Hobart tomorrow:

Harry Brook
Tim David
Nathan Ellis
Peter Handscomb
Caleb Jewell
Josh Kann
Sandeep Lamichhane
Ben McDermott
Riley Meredith
Mitch Owen
Wil Parker
Tom Rogers
D'Arcy Short
Jordan Thompson
Matthew Wade (c)
Mac Wright

Scott Boland is unavailable for selection after being added to Australia's Ashes squad for the second Test in Adelaide, whilst Joel Paris remains out due to injury.

The action on-pitch is set to commence at 3.30pm local time, however there is set to be a lot of entertainment off the field too, with plenty of Christmas cheer, carols after the game, and a rumoured visit from Santa as well!

Member gates open at 2pm, followed by public gates at 2.15pm
