Match preview: Hurricanes v Heat

31 December 2021

The Hobart Hurricanes will be looking to start the New Year the same way they finished it – with a win – when they take on the Brisbane Heat at Blundstone Arena tomorrow afternoon.

Tomorrow’s match will be the first meeting between the two sides of KFC BBL|11, and fans will surely be hoping that tomorrow’s match will emulate the one-run thriller when the two teams last met at the Gabba, almost exactly a year ago.

On that occasion it came down to a run out decision on the final ball of the match, where a sharp piece of fielding from the combination of Colin Ingram and Scott Boland was adjudged a run out and prevented the game from going to a super over.

The Hurricanes have named 16-player squad for tomorrow's match:

Harry Brook
Tim David
Nathan Ellis
Peter Handscomb
Caleb Jewell
Josh Kann
Sandeep Lamichhane
Ben McDermott
Riley Meredith
Mitch Owen
Wil Parker
Tom Rogers
D'Arcy Short
Jordan Thompson
Matthew Wade (c)
Mac Wright

Scott Boland (international commitments) and Joel Paris (injury) remain unavailable for selection.

The first ball in tomorrow’s match will be sent down at 4pm local time, with gates for members open from 2.30pm and general public gates open from 2.45pm.
