Match preview: Hurricanes v Strikers

26 December 2021

The Hobart Hurricanes will be looking to build on the momentum from their 24-run Christmas Eve win over the Melbourne Stars at Blundstone Arena, when they take on the Adelaide Strikers at the same venue tomorrow night.

It will be the first time the two sides have met this season, however the last time the two sides met in Launceston it was the Strikers who had the last laugh, something the Hurricanes will be keen to avenge.

On that occasion, it was Tasmanian-based Peter Siddle who ripped through the Hurricanes order, finishing with remarkable figures of 5-15 off just 3.3 overs.  With the Blundstone Arena pitch well-suited to the swing of Siddle’s bowling, he will be a key player the Hurricanes will look to neutralise.

The Hurricanes have named an unchanged 16-player squad for tomorrow's match:

Harry Brook
Tim David
Nathan Ellis
Peter Handscomb
Caleb Jewell
Josh Kann
Sandeep Lamichhane
Ben McDermott
Riley Meredith
Mitch Owen
Wil Parker
Tom Rogers
D'Arcy Short
Jordan Thompson
Matthew Wade (c)
Mac Wright

Scott Boland (international commitments) and Joel Paris (injury) remain unavailable for selection.

The first ball will be sent down at 6.05pm local time tomorrow, with member gates opening at 4.30pm, followed by public gates at 4.45pm.
