7,098 kilometres, 8,394 children, 133 schools, six days

09 September 2019

There were six massive days for our Hurricanes Men's & Women's squad during August on their 2019 MyState Bank Blitz.

The first week of Play Cricket Month saw our WBBL squad venture around Tasmania from August 5-7 before the final few days of the month saw our BBL squad complete the Blitz's third year.

We visited 133 schools in total and loved each and every one from Bruny Island in the South, to Queenstown in the West and to the very edge of Tasmania, King Island, which sits in the Bass Strait on the way to Victoria.

We also ran our Hurricanes Foundation Breakfast Clubs, supported by Tassal Salmon, on some mornings throughout the Blitz, ensuring students were given a reminder of how to start their day in a healthy and nutritious way.

The MyState Bank Community Blitz introduces children to cricket in a fun and engaging way through throwing and catching drills designed to develop hand-eye coordination before they're given the rare opportunity to ask the tough questions of the visiting players and receive that treasured autograph on a Hurricanes poster to complete the session.
