Ben McDermott says the Hurricanes’ upcoming matches against the Adelaide Strikers and Perth Scorchers will be a true test of where the side is at, with only three matches left before the Big Bash finals.
Speaking to media at Hobart Airport this morning, McDermott said the side would look to continue its momentum into the clash against the Strikers tomorrow night at the Adelaide Oval.
“It’s going to be the biggest test for us, these next two games,” he said.
“Playing the Strikers and Scorchers in their backyards is tough but hopefully we can get some more momentum and push towards finals.”
The Hurricanes again flexed their muscle with the bat last night, McDermott blasted 32 not out from 19 deliveries, D’Arcy Short top-scored hitting 59 off 49 deliveries to anchor the chase and Dan Christian was also in red-hot form, blasting 23 from just nine deliveries to put the game in the Hurricanes’ keeping.
“Putting Dan up the order was a great call, his innings took the Heat right out of the game,” McDermott said.
“It’s obviously always good to finish the game off nice and strong and we did that.”
The Hurricanes are flying high after recording a fifth-straight win last night – the first time in the club’s history that winning streak has been achieved.
The same 13-player squad will travel to Adelaide to play the second-placed Strikers tomorrow at the Adelaide Oval.
