Opening pair headed to England

15 April 2019

Dynamic Hurricanes BBL opening pair, Matthew Wade and D'Arcy Short, have each been selected on the Australia A Tour of England this June and July.

Both will be aiming to be part of the XI which will play five One-Day matches against County opposition concurrently with the World Cup, with the group of matches designed to enable the green and gold to have in-form cover available should a member of the World Cup squad get injured.

Wade - on the back of some stunning red ball form in the JLT Sheffield Shield, has also been selected in the four-day squad which will play three matches vs. Sussex, the England Lions (England A) and what's likely to be a full-strength Australian side in Hampshire prior to the Ashes squad being finalised.

The left-handed duo were the favourites from #TasmaniasTeam to earn national recognition following a KFC BBL|08 campaign where they plundered a combined 1,229 runs at the top of the order.

Hobart Hurricanes BBL|08 squad member and Australian Test captain, Tim Paine, will lead the four-day squad as part of his Ashes preparation.

Our group of representatives will be joined by Head Coach, Adam Griffith, in England this northern summer after he was announced as Australia's World Cup Assistant Coach last month.
