REBEL WBBL|06

WBBL|06 Match Preview: Nov 17 + 18

16 November 2020

The Hobart Hurricanes will be looking to return to the winners list when they take on the Adelaide Strikers and then the Melbourne Stars in Round 7 of WBBL|06, which starts tomorrow.

It was a weekend of mixed emotions for the Hurricanes in Round 6 of WBBL|06, with a historic win over the Sydney Sixers closely followed by a 10-wicket loss to the Brisbane Heat.

Reflecting on the Hurricanes’ weekend of mixed fortunes, bowler, Brooke Hepburn, was philosophical about where her side currently stands in the competition.

“Obviously, after a win like that [against the Sixers] you’re pretty euphoric, and we reviewed that and reflected on it.  We were happy with how we played but it’s the nature of this tournament that you’ve got to back up, and the teams that are doing well are backing up game after game.  So it is disappointing to come [yesterday] and put on a display like that - which we don’t pride ourselves on – [but] we’ve played some good cricket this tournament, and [yesterday] goes down as one of those days we just didn’t play well.

Today the entire Hurricanes squad enjoyed some salt water recovery, in preparation for another set of back-to-back matches.

“We’ll go through the same processes that we always do so a team review…and look at the things we aren’t so proud of…and I think from a loss like [yesterday] you can’t dwell on it too much – it’s T20 cricket, sometimes the losses aren’t pretty but we know when we play our best cricket we can be in that top four at the end of this tournament, so you’ve got to have that belief and believe in the performances we’ve had.”

The 14-player squad named for this week’s matches remains unchanged, and is as below:

Corinne Hall (c)
Nell Bryson Smith
Nicola Carey
Brooke Hepburn
Erica Kershaw
Hayley Matthews
Sasha Moloney
Rachel Priest
Chloe Rafferty
Amy Smith
Naomi Stalenberg
Emma Thompson
Chloe Tryon
Belinda Vakarewa

If selected in the final XI, Nell Bryson Smith and Chloe Rafferty will make their respective Hurricanes debuts.
