With just one week until the Hobart Hurricanes begin their WBBL campaign, the club has today announced that England International Heather Knight will Captain the side.

The England Vice-Captain, Knight made a big impact in the WT20 competition last year for Tasmania, named ACA WT20 Player of the Year after solid efforts with the bat and with the ball.  The 24-year old scored five half-centuries in 10 innings and finished as the third leading run scorer in the WT20 competition as well as taking six wickets.

Knight said she is looking forward to taking on the responsibility of Captaining the Hurricanes in the inuagural WBBL, the side mixed with experienced players and young up and comers.

"I'm really looking forward to leading the Hurricanes in the first ever WBBL and the challenges to come," Knight said.

"We've got some really exciting players in the squad and it's going to be a  pleasure to Captain them on the field in the next few months."

With the whole squad now gathered in Hobart, the team will embark on a team bonding week-end at Mariah Island before starting their WBBL campaign next week.

The WBBL Hobart Hurricanes will hit off WBBL01 at Launceston's Aurora Stadium next Friday night against the Melbourne Renegades.Three more matches will follow, two games on Saturday (vs Renegades and Adelaide Strikers) and one game on Sunday (vs Adelaide Strikers).
