Jake Doran joins Hurricanes for BBL|08

11 October 2018

The Hurricanes continue to bolster their squad ahead of KFC BBL|08 with young, aggressive batsman Jake Doran the latest addition to its list.

Doran joins the Hurricanes after impressing for the Tasmanian Tigers in the longer forms of the game having moved from New South Wales for a greater opportunity of playing at the First-Class level.

In last season's Sheffield Shield competition, Doran finished as the fifth-highest run scorer with 756 runs at an average of 44.5.

The 21-year-old left hander has previously been on the Sydney Thunder list, playing four matches.

Doran became the youngest ever player to earn a full BBL contract when he signed with the team from Spotless Stadium aged just 17 years and 311 days old.

He's hoping to continue his great form from the back end of last season in Hurricanes purple this summer.

"It's great to sign with the Hurricanes and continue my learning of T20 cricket," said Doran.

"It's a world class club to be apart of and I can't wait to contribute where I can for the team and learn from some of my teammates."

"I'm looking forward to being in purple this summer with my Tassie teammates and help the team go one better in BBL|08."

Hurricanes Head Coach, Adam Griffith, is sure the prodigy can build on last summer

"Jake is an exciting young player who had a break out season last year and now gets his opportunity with the Hurricanes this year," said Griffith.

"We look forward to seeing his development this season in purple."

Hurricanes fans will have the opportunity to meet the team's latest signing Jake Doran at a special school holidays event outside the Tassal Tasmanian Salmon shop in Salamanca Square tomorrow morning from 8:30am.

Jake's first opportunity to impress for #TasmaniasTeam comes when the Big Bash season commences on the Gold Coast for the Hurricanes vs. Brisbane Heat on December 22, before the season opening clash with the Melbourne Stars on Christmas Eve.
