Hobart Hurricanes Women's Head Coach, Salliann Briggs, spoke to media this morning ahead of departing on her squad's pre-season tour to Darwin on Saturday morning.
The Hurricanes will take part in the NT Cricket's TIO Women's Strike League alongside the Desert Blaze and the City Cyclones which will be made up of players local to Darwin and Cricket ACT who will be also be touring the region.
"We've been training since the middle of May now, so we're really ready to see where we're at," said Briggs.
"After this group of matches it gives us another month or so to build confidence on what we get from next week but also work on other areas ahead of the WBBL (which begins its first-ever standalone season in mid-October)."
Although the Strike League is in its infancy, Briggs sees great benefit in participation
"The competition is going to be really good and quite strong. I think the plan for it is to grow and evolve to have all states competing in it around the same time every year."
