Chasing a victory, the Hobart Hurricanes are preparing to take on the Adelaide Strikers at Karen Rolton Oval in Adelaide on January 8 and 9. With the season beginning to draw to a close, the girls will head into the match determined to prove that ladder placement isn’t everything and that they deserve a win.
The Hurricanes made their way to Adelaide coming off a disappointing loss against the Melbourne Renegades in Geelong. The fantastic performances of Corinne Hall and Sasha Moloney were not enough to produce a victory. As they look to put the deficit behind them, the squad will attempt to raise the pressure and put on a show for the crowds in Adelaide.
#TasmaniasTeam currently sits in 8th position on the WBBL ladder, but they are more than capable to turn it up as they take on the 7th placed Adelaide Strikers. A fierce competition is set to brew as the two teams battle it out in great force, both looking to win in convincing fashion.
Hurricanes to watch:
Sasha Moloney has been nothing short of a superstar this season producing a career best of 3/20 in four fantastic overs against the Renegades in Geelong last week. The 26-year-old is able to provide some hard-hitting in the middle order with some seriously handy right arm off-spin. With the ability to keep her cool under pressure whilst maintaining quick decision-making skills, she has all the makings of WBBL Big Bash Captain.
Corinne Hall is a dominant member of the Hobart Hurricanes, proving time and time again why she is such a valued member of the squad. Originally from the picturesque Hunter Valley in NSW, the right-hand batsman has consistently proved that she can perform when necessary. Her recent efforts in the WBBL of 37* against the Renegades and 48 against the Heat, make her a strong asset to any team she joins.
Georgia Redmayne is a handy wicketkeeper who is no stranger to success with her young career both behind the wickets and with the bat. Some of her highlights include winning the 2018 Betty Wilson young cricketer award and creating a 116-run knock against Western Australia playing for Tasmania in the WNCL. As a dominant top order batsman she just keeps getting better, definitely a young Australian cricketer to watch.
