The Hurricanes have today signed the talented trio of Stefanie Daffara, Kate Fryett and Meg Phillips for the 2018 Rebel WBBL|04 season.
Allrounder Daffara's on board for her second season with the Hurricanes after amassing 181 runs with the wiilow at an average of 16 in WBBL|03.
Opening bowler Fryett has signed on for her third WBBL season having played the previous two seasons at Blundstone Arena with best bowling figures of 2/18 whilst New Town Cricket Club product Meg Phillips will be keen to add to her three WBBL matches thus far in her career after beginning the WNCL season strongly with the Tasmanian Tigers, being a key player in their season opening win over ACT.
New Head Coach of the Hurricanes Women's team, Salliann Briggs, is delighted to have the three players on board for another season.
"We're very happy to have Stef, Kate and Meg in purple for another season of the WBBL," she said.
"The three of them are highly talented cricketers who have worked incredibly hard over the summer and they'll continue to only improve."
The trio are each extremely excited for the WBBL season opener on December 1 in Melbourne against the Scorchers, before their opening home games at West Park in Burnie.
"I'm hoping to learn from and build on what I was able to do last season and play an entertaining brand of cricket for the Hurricanes," says Daffara.
"For now I'm focused on preparations for Round 2 of the WNCL but I can't wait to pull on the purple again, particularly in Burnie where I visited as part of the MyState Blitz."
"A large part of the squad has been training hard as Tigers and it will be fun to transfer that to the Hurricanes," says Launceston local Fryett.
"We've just been lucky enough to travel around the state and the support for the Hurricanes has been awesome, I'm looking forward to getting back up to Launceston as well as the games in Burnie which are really exciting.
"The WBBL competition is getting bigger and bigger so it's a really exciting to be involved again," says Phillips.
"I always love putting on the purple and can't wait for the season to start in December."
The Hurricanes first games in Tasmania will be played at West Park in Burnie on Saturday December 8 and Sunday December 9 before their first match in Hobart for the summer - a huge Saturday night match on December 15 at Blundstone Arena vs. Sydney Sixers.
