Hurricanes Foundation 2018-19 Snapshot

09 September 2019

The Hurricanes Foundation has had a successful third year since joining forces with the Australian Sports Foundation.

We managed to raise over $21,000, in addition to cash investments we also donated signed memorabilia which can be auctioned off to help our community with their own fundraising – resulting in raising over $6,000.

Our Hurricanes and Tigers players were sent to over 200 appearances in our community and impacted over 25,000 people in Tasmania as a whole.

With assistance from our Co-Major Sponsor Tassal, we engaged a number of schools across the state in our Hurricanes Breakfast Club program. We managed to provide 16 schools with the Hurricanes Breakfast Club which assists primary schools across the state in providing a healthy nutritious start to the day for their students.

With the implementation of our Hurricanes Smoothie, children can take home a magnet to remember how to kick start their day in a healthy and nutritious way.

Northern Rookie program saw Sophie {Parkin and Jake Williams with the opportunity to join our Hurricanes WBBL and BBL squads during the pre-season.

We also supported the Tassal Indigenous Xl T20 team which travelled to Latrobe take part in a Tri-Series Tournament against the Sydney Thunder Indigenous team.

With assistance from Tassal we were able to raise over $55,000 which went directly to helping those communities that were affected by the January bushfires in Tasmania. A true representation of what the Foundation is capable of doing for our community!

The annual Hurricanes Foundation Day hosted over 200 people and with the support of our principal partners of BBL and WBBL, Tassal and Mystate Bank we were able to raise nearly $2000.

Through the various enquiries we receive through our website we also organised to send over 12 boxes of merchandise, clothing and gear to an orphanage in India to be enjoyed not only by the children but the adults too.

St. John's Ambulance asked the Hurricanes for some merchandise to add to their shipping container that they were sending off to East Timor to be enjoyed by another orphanage. We supplied some items of clothing, cricket gear and some Hurricanes memorabilia!

The Hurricanes Foundation looks to support our cricketing community and those in need of assistance in Tasmania however, we also aim to assist internationally!

Cricket Tasmania is a not-for-profit organisation and the Hurricanes Foundation strives only on your generosity.
