England captain Heather Knight has taken taken home the top individual honour as the Hobart Hurricanes' WBBL Player of the Tournament at the Cricket Tasmania Awards tonight at Wrest Point.
Knight dominated throughout rebel WBBL|04 with the bat, ball and in the field for Salliann Briggs' side, her return a welcome sight for fellow players and fans of #TasmaniasTeam alike having missed the entire previous campaign with injury.
Player of the Year Knight accumulated 374 runs at an average of 34 and a strike rate of 121, took 14 wickets (second in purple behind Brooke Hepburn), as well as claiming the most catches in the competition with 13.
Knight also provided invaluable on-field leadership and became a key mentor for the Hurricanes' young new leader, Sasha Moloney, throughout the summer.
Knight polled 256 votes to be the award's clear winner ahead of Smriti Mandhana (142), Erin Fazackerley (117) and Brooke Hepburn (110).
It was fans of #TasmaniasTeam on the North-West Coast of our State who perhaps saw Knight at her devastating best, sending the Melbourne Stars to all parts of West Park as we played WBBL matches in Burnie for the first time.
Enjoy some highlights of her innings below.
