Corinne Hall has signed a two-year deal with the Hobart Hurricanes, keeping her in Tasmania for WBBL|03 and WBBL|04.
Hall’s signing is even more significant in that she will also take on the captaincy of the Hurricanes for WBBL|03.
The middle-order batter said she was looking forward to taking on the captaincy this season.
“I hope that I can help create an environment for our team to get the best out of themselves and their cricket,” she said.
“I enjoy every single aspect of the WBBL competition I think this is largely due to the playing group we have at the Hobart Hurricanes.
“We have had the same nucleus of players since the inception of the WBBL so we know each other so well and have built a great team culture which makes playing in this tournament even more special."
Hall said she was looking forward to working with the Hurricanes’ two newest international signings, India’s Veda Krishnamurthy and England’s Lauren Winfield.
“Veda seems like a student of the game, someone who is always looking to improve some aspect of her cricket. We saw how destructive she can be in the World Cup when she played a dynamic innings against a very good New Zealand side, so hopefully we will see more of that from here this WBBL,” she said.
“Lauren is a player I have admired for a long time and through her experience representing England and leading Yorkshire both in the County and Kia Super Leagues, I think she will be invaluable asset to myself and the group.”
After making the semi-finals in the first two editions of the WBBL, Hall said the aim of the group was to go one step better this season.
“We have always held a strong belief within our group that we were contenders for the title so to make the semi-finals in both years is a real accomplishment,” she said
“We will be looking to start the competition well because momentum in this tournament is crucial as there is limited time in between matches to regroup and carry on.
“Of course, everyone wants to win the title so that will be the endgame.”
