Scans today showed the 29-year-old had sustained a low-grade calf tear while bowling in Friday night’s match against the Brisbane Heat.
The anticipated recovery period is between two and four weeks.
“We are confident that James will be able to get back on the field for the Hurricanes in the latter stages of the tournament,” team physiotherapist Stewart Williamson said.
“At this stage, it’s difficult to put an exact time frame on a return as we see how the injury responds to treatment.“
"James has navigated similar injuries in the past. He’s an experienced cricketer who we know will be diligent with his rehabilitation to recover fully and give himself every chance to play as soon as possible.”
