Captain’s Challenge Month September

26 August 2018

The Captain's Challenge assists Kindergarten to Grade Two students around Tasmania achieve 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous intensity activity on most days of the week, as outlined in the Australian Physical Activity Guidelines.

The Captain’s Challenge works by spending 10 minutes a day for four weeks developing fundamental motor skills at school that help children remain physically active for life – such as practising basic ball drills like bouncing, catching and throwing.

During the program, participants will undertake daily activities designed to challenge them at their own pace in a fun, engaging environment.

To measure their development, each activity has a target that must be achieved before participants can move onto the next activity.

Children can track their progress each weekday on the classroom tally board.

There are also four easy-to-follow activity cards and posters that show each week’s activities, plus a large tally board for participating classrooms.

Each student involved gets a FREE Hurricanes stress ball and teachers get a FREE Teacher Pack!
