BBL|07 Season Review: Dan Christian

08 February 2018

With the Big Bash season over for another year, we take a look back on the season of Dan Christian, who further solidified his standing as one of the world's premier Twenty-20 cricketers.

The stats:

Matches    Innings    Runs       Average         Not Outs        Strike Rate     Highest Score  50s
 12 11 216 27 3 153.19 56 1

Wickets   Average   Economy Rate   Best Bowling  Strike Rate
 11 26.00 8.88 4-17 18

As the second-highest wicket-taker and fourth highest run scorer for the Hurricanes this season, Christian enjoyed a stellar season in purple.

Statistically BBL|07 was Christian’s best tournament yet, scoring more runs and taking more wickets than ever before.

Given his unique roles as a pinch-hitting run scorer and clutch death bowler, Christian performed with remarkable consistency as he further enhanced his reputation as one of the world’s most valuable Twenty-20 all-rounders.

This role was best evidenced by his player of the match performance against the Heat at Blundstone Arena, where he chipped in with 23 off 9 after taking 1-12 with the ball to secure the Hurricanes an emphatic victory.

BBL|07 Highlight:

It’s difficult to nail down just the one highlight from Christian’s tournament, with his breathtaking half-century against the Melbourne Stars at the MCG and his all-round effort of 37 runs and 4-17 in the semi-final against the Scorchers two standouts from another consistent summer.
