Blundstone Arena, Bellerive, the home of the Hobart Hurricanes, is nestled on the eastern shores of the Derwent River opposite Hobart's CBD. It is one of the most striking cricket grounds in world, with the ovals’ neighbour Bellerive Beach flanked by eye-catching views of Hobart city and Mount Wellington.
The ground has hosted an array of International and Domestic cricket matches and the installation of light towers suitable for international cricket saw the ground come alight in 2009 to the excitement of local cricket fans. Hobartians love the thrills and excitement of the BBL and a record domestic crowd and ground record of 18,149 came through the gates in BBL05 as the Hurricanes played the Scorchers.
A ten minute drive from Hobart’s city centre, the home of the Hobart Hurricanes’ - Blundstone Arena is conveniently located on Hobart’s eastern shore.
The newly redeveloped ground has a current capacity of 19,500 after the Western Side of the ground was redeveloped in 2013-2014, the new Ricky Ponting Stand a highlight of the Bellerive ground.
Upon arrival at the ground, public access into the oval and ticket windows are located at the new Ricky Ponting Stand entrance and the entrance on Derwent and Church Streets. The South Gate, further down Church Street is also open for convenient access for the Southern Stand or hill.
Blundstone Arena consists of four main areas- the David Boon Stand (formerly the Southern Stand), the Members Pavilion, the Ricky Ponting Stand and the North East Stuart Spencer Stand. The hilly bank on the eastern side of ground is also a popular spot for families wanting to bring kids and the wet area below the giant replay screen caters for those wanting to enjoy a beverage whilst taking in all the action on the field!
There are bar and kiosk facilities available throughout the venue, as shown on the venue map. Outside the oval, just a short stroll away is the beachside ‘Fish Bar’ or the ‘Food Store’ for the best fresh Tasmanian produce!
