Cricket Tasmania is the governing body for cricket in Tasmania, promoting and developing the game throughout the State.

Cricket is the only national professional team sport in Tasmania and this organisation is responsible for junior cricket and coaching programs through to professional players, coaches and umpires.

Cricket Tasmania has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Talent Manager to provide leadership and support to our High Performance (HP) Elite Teams and program.

This includes list management for the Male and Female Tigers State Teams and the Hobart Hurricanes WBBL Women’s Team and BBL Men’s Team.

You will be reporting to the General Manager - High Performance, and working closely with the female and male Head Coaches of the Elite Teams and HP Pathway Coaches.

The aim of the HP Teams and Programs is to produce world-class players, teams and coaches, while ensuring the success of our local team within Australian Domestic Cricket competitions.

Key role responsibilities include:

- Managing the elite player lists including identification, recruitment and contracting of State Teams and W/BBL Teams Lists.
- Chairing the State Selection Panel (SSP).
- Maintaining and communicating knowledge on Talent ID and Talent Management processes to appropriate Cricket Tasmania staff.
- Coordinating the delivery of all aspects of the Australian Cricket Performance Program (ACPP) with the support staff.
- Working with our Coach Development Manager on Talent ID and presenting to identified groups when required.
- Developing recruitment strategies and philosophies for the long-term success and sustainability of HP Cricket.
- Working with Cricket Australia to coordinate the Cricket Australia Rookie Program in Tasmania.
- Leading and managing the Player Development Managers to ensure compliance with Cricket Australia codes and policies (contracted and uncontracted players).
- Working with the High Performance Manager and Head Coaches to deliver the best talent management system for the male and female elite teams and HP Pathway.

- Ability to effectively communicate national initiatives to state high performance cricketers, coaches and teams.

- An understanding of national selection philosophies and strategies.

- Building and developing relationships with a range of stakeholders including local government, associations, clubs and schools to grow participation in cricket at all levels.
- Working closely with associations and clubs to deliver recruitment and retention strategies with a focus on embedding the National Junior Formats program.
- Working closely with associations and clubs across a range of initiatives such as volunteers, facilities, governance, safeguarding children, strategic planning, inclusion and diversity and promotion.
- Implementing a broad range of Australian cricket programs for male and female cricket across schools and communities.
- Leveraging the powerful W/BBL brand to facilitate the transition of school participants into cricket clubs via national programs including the Captain’s Challenge, School Ambassadors, Woolworths Blast School Cups and Sporting Schools.
- Managing regional field staff to develop entry level and school-based programs and a casual field force that will assist with the delivery and support of cricket promotions.

To be successful in this role you will possess:

- A passion for developing grassroots sport.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in marketing, sports management, education or similar.
- Knowledge and experience of sports development programs.
- Highly developed communication skills including business presentation skills and the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Exceptional planning, time-management, coordination and organisational skills.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt.
- Current driver’s licence & Working With Vulnerable People Registration.

Cricket Promotions Officer - North West Tasmania

Based in Devonport and reporting to the Cricket Manager – North West, you will facilitate the promotion and development of Tasmanian cricket in the North West region of Tasmania.

This position will assist the Community Cricket team to deliver fun and energetic programs across a variety of schools and community clubs, and female and lifestyle programs.

Our vision is for cricket to be a sport for all Australians, grown from the grassroots level, and this role will focus on strong involvement in schools, with further opportunities to work in the community and club space.

You will need a current first aid certificate and current working with children check.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Running a variety of fun and energetic sessions in schools that inspire students to play cricket.
- Building and developing relationships with clubs and schools to promote the game of cricket.
- Promoting, developing and supporting the delivery of entry level programs within clubs, including Woolworths Junior Blaster and Woolworths Master Blaster.
- Providing leadership and management for both paid and unpaid roles involved in school programs such as the Captain’s Challenge, Extended Skills Program and Woolworths Blast School Cups.
- Leveraging the profile of the Big Bash League and the Hobart Hurricanes as a strategy for maximizing participation.

To be successful in this role you will possess:

- Current driver’s licence & Working With Vulnerable People Registration.
- Knowledge and experience of sport development programs.
- Well-developed communication skills and the ability to build relationships with a wide range of cricket’s stakeholders.

Hobart Hurricanes Storm Squad Casuals

The Hurricanes are seeking energetic and enthusiastic people with a passion for the sports, entertainment and community sport industry to join our team for BBL|08 and WBBL|04 as part of the Storm Squad.

We are looking to recruit a team of casual staff to work throughout this Summer until mid-February 2019.

This is a perfect opportunity for university students (or similar) looking for paid work experience and on-the-job learning as part of a fun, high energy and dynamic group.

The Storm Squad is a key part of the Hurricanes brand, charged with taking the fun and excitement of Big Bash Home Match Days out to all parts of the community and increasing fan engagement as well as ticket, membership and merchandise sales.

As a member of the Storm Squad, you will work at various events around Tasmania and will be responsible for engaging with existing fans, members and the general public with a view to increasing their passion and developing the Hobart Hurricanes fan base.

Additionally, you will work with the Fan & Community Dept and the Events & Operations Dept to ensure every aspect of the fan experience is popular and polished.

To be successful in this position, you will be hardworking, enthusiastic and energetic with fantastic communication skills and a passion for engaging and entertaining people.

The following will be considered favourably:

- Knowledge, experience and/or interest in the sports and entertainment industry
- A strong desire to learn
- Any sales or events experience
- Currently studying a relevant tertiary (or similar) course: Marketing, Sports Management, Events, Teaching etc

It is essential that you are available on ALL these Hobart Hurricanes Home Match Days: 15, 16, 18, 24, 28 December plus 4, 29 January plus 7 February.

Additional workdays will be available to support Fan & Community Events: 17, 24 November plus 8, 9, 15, 22, 29, 30, 31 December plus 1 February.

Not all causal staff will be required for all these dates.

You will need to have the following:

- Ability to work flexible hours over Summer
- Your own transport
- Tasmanian Working With Children Check
- Meet requirements to work in Australia

Cricket Tasmania has an exciting opportunity for a Clubs Officer – Greater North to join our Community Cricket team.

Based in Northern Tasmania and reporting to the Cricket Manager – Greater North, you will facilitate the promotion and development of Tasmanian cricket in the North and North West regions.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Provide practical assistance to local clubs and associations to maximise their sustainability.

- Work with local clubs and associations to identify and resolve logistical and other issues impacting the effective operation of local cricket.

- Build, maintain and leverage relationships with key local stakeholders, particularly those that increase school cricket to club cricket transitions.

- Facilitate the effective delivery of training and development of appropriate accreditation for local coaches in conjunction with the Coach & Talent Specialists.

- Maximise the participant uptake for Cricket Blast entry level programs and other preferred programs for clubs and associations.

- Ensure Cricket Blast volunteers have the skills and knowledge to provide a quality cricket experience for participants, including achieving their appropriate accreditation.

- Ensure all current and local data, including key contact information and communication history, is accurately recorded in the CROWD system.

- Maximise usage of the MyCricket database and Live Scoring on behalf of local clubs and associations.

- Facilitate the effective delivery of ‘A Sport For All’ training to clubs and associations.

- Ensure compliance with sponsorship-related contractual obligations.

- Leverage the profile of the Big Bash League and Hobart Hurricanes as a strategy for maximizing program participation.

To be successful in this role you will possess:

Qualifications

- Tertiary qualifications in Education, Sport Management or Management are desirable.

Essential

- Experience and understanding of community level sport and pathways.

- Strong management, influencing and relationship building skills.

- Ability to drive, plan and implement strategic objectives.

- Current driver’s licence & Working With Children Check – Tasmania.

Desirable

- Understanding of cricket.

- Coaching accreditation.
