Vice-Captain Tim Paine backed up his impressive BBL|02 batting campaign with another 235 runs last season – including two half-centuries – at an average of 26.11 in BBL|03.
He was confident and comfortable at the top of the order, scoring plenty of quick runs during powerplays. His tidy glove work also earned him six catches and three stumpings.
He and fellow opener Ben Dunk were a standout opening pair in the competition scoring 43 per cent of the Hurricanes 1441 runs this summer.
Paine is doing the hard yards in the pre-season this year, staying in Hobart for the winter before the Champions League in September where he will be looking to kick-start his 2014-15 season with some big scores at the top of the order.
Painey is one of the great leaders in our team and has showed he is a pretty aggressive player at the top of the order and someone who we can also use in the middle order.
