After missing BBL|01, Paine returned last season showing what a solid batsman and talented cricketer he is. Paine led the way with the bat making 260 runs with a top score of 74no off just 57 balls against the Perth Scorchers at Blundstone Arena.
The talented wicket-keeper and top order batsman was considered talented enough to one day make it in the AFL but chose instead to pursue a cricket career, giving his brother Nick (who plays in the Tasmanian State League) bragging rights for the Paine family with the Sherrin.
The proud Hobart blonde will be keen to once again dominate this year’s competition and press for national selection again after being part of the Australian A tour this year. His poise and powerful shot making at the top of the order and his leadership behind the stumps will be crucial if the Hurricanes are to lift the BBL|03 this season.
Painey is one of the great leaders in our team and has showed he is a pretty aggressive player at the top of the order and someone who we can also use in the middle order.
