Hilfenhaus or ‘Hilfy’ as he is known grew up in Ulverstone in the North West of Tasmania. The 31-year old, Hobart based, strongly built paceman is also an avid golfer with an impressive handicap of 8 and loves to play the Playstation.
After not playing a match for the Hurricanes last season due to injuries Hilfy came back with a bang in the opening match of BBL|03 against the Brisbane Heat. However it wasn't with the ball where he made Twitter go into meltdown but with the bat as he smashed a final over 6 at the Gabba and the Hurricanes chased down a record 211 for a historic win.
An introvert, Hilfenhaus surprised his friends and family when he appeared shirtless as Mr September in the Men for All Seasons calendar in 2009. Hilfenhaus has recently become a father with he and his wife Meri welcoming little William in October. If given the chance, would like to be Michael Schumacher for the day.
Hilfy will lead a strong bowling line-up and his energy, experience and ability to swing the ball will add another dimension to our pace attack
